Karen joined Youth Represent in 2018 after completing a two-year fellowship at Immigrant Justice Corps. As a Community Fellow, she represented low-income immigrants throughout Brooklyn in their affirmative applications in front of USCIS as a Department of Justice Accredited Representative. During the fellowship, Karen worked closely on the intersection of criminal law and immigration law to ensure that Black immigrants’ experiences were highlighted in the discussion of immigration reform. Karen attended Brown University where she received a B.A. in International Relations and Africana Studies. While at Brown, she conducted research on global migration involving sub-Saharan migrants and Haitians and interned with the Rhode Island Commission of Human Rights as well as the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.
