We are thrilled that the Second Annual Youth Resource & Opportunities Fair, hosted by the Youth Justice & Opportunities Act Youth Committee, was an overwhelming success!
At Youth Represent, we firmly believe that youth justice goes beyond legal and legislative victories; it encompasses providing young individuals with the tools, resources, and opportunities they require to thrive and create a better future. With this vision in mind, our Youth Committee and Policy team have been tirelessly advocating for y outh justice throughout the year, both in Albany and across our city and state.
On Saturday, August 12th, we came together at the beautiful Lincoln Terrace Park in Brooklyn to share resources and engage young people and families. We distributed over 300 backpacks and other school supplies as well as hundreds of boxes of baby wipes and feminine hygiene products. We had incredible partner organizations on site – including Brooklyn Defender Services, KAVI, Children’s Defense Fund of NY YouthNPower Project, exalt youth, Good Call, Youth Justice Network, Bronx Connect and Free to Be Youth – providing education and internship opportunities and legal information on site. The day also included games, balloon animals, and face painting for kids and an incredible performance by Flex Dance.
Tremendous thanks to everyone who made this event a success - most importantly our Youth Committee who took the lead on it from start to finish. Thanks also to everyone who donated to the event, volunteered, or helped spread the word, and to everyone who attended.
Your support makes all of this work possible. Please stay connected with Youth Represent to learn about upcoming initiatives, events, and opportunities to support youth.
