Jason Spears serves as Chief Compliance Officer and Associate General Counsel at Addition, L.P., a venture capital fund that partners with entrepreneurs looking to build long-term and enduring platforms. Prior to joining Addition, he served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Cartica Management, an investment firm focused exclusively on emerging markets. Jason started his legal career in the New York City and Hong Kong offices of the global law firm Shearman & Sterling. Before launching his career in law, Jason taught middle school with the Teach for America program.

Jason received a J.D. from the New York University School of Law, an M.B.A. from the New York University Stern School of Business and a B.A. in Economics from Morehouse College. He is a proud native of Selma, Alabama, now residing in Montclair, New Jersey with his wife and two sons.
