Maya Brennan, LMSW, MPP

Fundraising Consultant

Maya Brennan (LMSW, MPP), she/her, is a resource mobilizer and development strategist dedicated to resourcing movements led by communities most impacted by injustice. She works to channel funding, visibility, and practical support to grassroots and community-based organizations, designing fundraising experiences that feel relational, accessible, and joyful for the people on the frontlines of change.

Maya brings over a decade of fundraising experience across national and local organizations. She currently holds a development leadership role at Borealis Philanthropy, supporting funds focused on intersectional justice and movement infrastructure. Her previous roles include Director of Development at Youth Represent and Beam Center, alongside six years in Washington, DC developing multi-channel fundraising strategies at the Democratic Attorneys General Association, LGBTQ Victory Fund, and People For the American Way.

Rooted in Brooklyn, NY and a proud daughter of immigrants, Maya approaches fundraising as one tool for building collective power and community self-determination. She holds a Master’s in Social Work from Columbia University, an M.S. in Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University, and a B.A. in Psychology, Sociology, and Theater from Wheaton College in Massachusetts.
