Alex Cohen-Price, LMSW
Social Worker
Alex graduated with their Masters of Social Work from the Erikson Institute in Chicago, IL in 2018. After beginning their social work career supporting children and families in pediatric hospitals, Alex moved to New York City, where they worked at The Door’s Legal Services Center on the Detained Minors Project. Over the course of two years, Alex helped build the social work role, working closely with a team of attorneys and paralegals to protect the rights of detained young immigrants and provide them with critical therapeutic support and advocacy.
Prior to graduate school, Alex spent three years as a bilingual preschool teacher in Washington, DC. Alex also has extensive experience developing and facilitating workshops in hospitals, nonprofits and schools, on topics including: trauma-informed legal advocacy, anti-bias and equity in healthcare settings, LGBTQ+ allyship in social work, and more. Alex is dedicated to building a social work role that provides Youth Represent’s clients with ongoing mental health support and advocacy as they navigate an unjust criminal legal system.
