Balfour joined Youth Represent in 2017 as a PiPS Fellow on the School Justice Project. Prior to Youth Represent, Balfour interned with Orleans Public Defenders, and the Legal Aid Society’s Criminal Defense Practice in Brooklyn. At Orleans Public Defenders, Balfour worked on a variety of criminal cases, assisted pretrial detained clients and conducted legal research and writing on relevant and important issues in criminal law and procedure. At Legal Aid, Balfour provided support to the legal team that challenged the admissibility of DNA results and represented clients in Manifestation Determination Reviews and School Suspension Hearings. Balfour received his J. D. from Brooklyn Law School and his B.A. in Political Science from Xavier University of Louisiana.
